Recently, Bill has been advising technology companies on corporate communications, including Arrow Electronics (in association with Westmeath Communications) and Unify, formerly known as Siemens Enterprise Communications.
Bill has been a regular guest on Bloomberg's Market Maker program, talking about crisis communications and reputation management in the context of issues with the Boeing 787 aircraft
and Carnival Cruise Lines'
efforts to rebuild its corporate reputation.
Today, Bill runs Wohl Communications LLC, advising companies on their public relations strategies, social media techniques, messaging, media training, CEO counseling, and crisis communications.
Most recently, Bill
served as Senior Vice President & Chief Communications Officer for
Hewlett-Packard, a $130 billion leader in the IT industry with 320,000
employees. There he led communications,
reported to the CEO, and provided strategic communications counsel to the
Prior to joining HP,
he worked for 12 years at SAP AG, where, as a member of the company's senior
leadership team, Bill was one of the company’s primary spokespersons. He directly
counseled SAP's CEOs and executive board members on communications for
major corporate and product topics, including strategy, litigation, M&A and
Bill managed communications at the computer industry’s largest independent
hardware service provider, DecisionOne Corporation. Bill also led public
relations and communications at Remington Arms, a leading firearms and sporting
goods manufacturer, and at the DuPont Company. His first assignment was on the
public relations staff of the Office of the Governor of the State of Delaware.
Bill holds a Bachelor Degree in Public Affairs from the University of Delaware. In his spare
time, he has served more than 25 years as an emergency medical technician and
firefighter, responding to emergency 911 calls for the volunteer fire
department in West Grove, Pennsylvania (an organization for which he also
served in various leadership roles including President and ambulance captain).
